In 1987, I watched two summer camp counselors in a distant field figure out "Patience," -Guns n Roses by ear!: a moment of pure magic that taught me music is about connection, not just notes.
That spark led to my first guitar and fueled my mission to help students of all ages find their own voice. Today, I help you unlock that same "aha!" moment and bring your favorite music to life on the strings.
"Thank you Chris for making the guitar fun for me!"
"I’ve spent my career in every corner of the music world, from the groove of the upright bass to the precision of professional studio production and original composition. I don't just teach guitar; I share the secrets of how music actually works."
My Training & Professional Experience
- Professional Musician & Creator: Over 25 years as a composer, band leader, performer, and recording artist. I teach based on professional experience, not just theory.
- Recording & Production Knowledge: I bring studio expertise into the lesson, teaching you not just how to play a part, but how it fits within a cohesive song/recording.
- Deep Musical Foundation: Multi-instrumentalist background (upright and electric bass, drums). This gives me a holistic understanding of rhythm and arrangement.
- Tailored to Your Style: Whether your passion is gritty rock riffs, classic pop melodies, or crafting original songs, the curriculum follows your genre.
Progress Over Perfection: How We Learn
I focus on keeping you excited about your progress rather than stressing over perfect technique in the first week. We build solid habits by starting with the music that moves you.
Theory with Purpose
Learning here is about having fun, not feeling like a classroom. We incorporate music theory as a secondary tool to help you understand what’s happening inside the songs you're learning. It’s designed to make you a smarter player, not to give you more homework.
